Verdict: 👍
It's a solid superhero movie. With a great cast. Absolutely likeable protagonist. Extremely well choreographed fight scenes. Very entertaining.
Premise: A godlike amazon comes for the first time into our world. With little to no knowledge about humans and their lifestyle.
Time: World War I
Plot: The amazons live their life on Themyscira, seperated from humans. There are no more gods, since Ares killed them all. But the amazons have the weapon with which Ares can be killed, should he ever return: the godslayer.
A pilot, Steve Trevor, crashes near their island and Diana saves him. Immediately afterwards the germans stumble upon Themyscira and start fighting the amazons. The amazons win.
Diana wants to go and save mankind from the great war, which she thinks is Ares' doing. Her mother, queen Hyppolita, opposes, at first, but lets her leave in the end.
Despite her education, there are a lot of things that are new and unknown to Diana. And she is very mission oriented: find Ares, kill Ares, save mankind. Steve is a soldier, or better a spy, and has to deal with politics and permissions and stuff.
They make it to the war front. Steve has to sacrifice himself. Diana has to face Ares. She wins. The war ends.
Best part: Steve and Diana are ambushed in an alley. He wants to protect her. But when he realises, that she is the better fighter and kind of bulletproof, he steps aside and lets her save the day.
Worst part: When Steve says goodbye to Diana, she can't hear him. And so, we don't hear him. But we know of course, what he says. And the watch says it all. Why do they have to spell it out, a little bit later? That scene was perfect. And they ruined it.
And now would follow the nitpicky section, but I've already done that. I tried to have as little spoilers as possible.
